Paris Day 1

Arrived without any issues at Charles de Gaulle (CDG) airport. I have to say that they seem ready for the Olympics to arrive. Quick cab ride into the city...and I'm ready to start my day. Of course, my hotel room isn't available at 8am so after dropping off my luggage I'm off to start my day by familiarizing myself with the neighborhood.

My plans for this trip are to hit off-the-beaten path parts of Paris that I've never seen. So I took off to hit 2 passageways that I wasn't aware of. My only recommendation is to go when the shops are OPEN.

First stop was Passage Choiseul which is the smaller of the two I visited today.
I also went to Galerie Vivienne which is much larger. And yet somehow I managed to take fewer photos???

No first day is complete without spending some time in the Tuileries. If not for the beautiful garden it is also one of hte best places to people watch...or watch the mean duck chase off all the other ducks out of the fountain.Or to see a photo shoot going on.

Then spent the evening at the neighborhood bistros...a kir royale and onion soup (forgot to take a photo but it was gorgeous...soup could have used some seasoning thought) at Bistrot Richelieu while it rained. And a Last Word at a little neighborhood bar.

Good first day!
