Back to winery visits!!
Chateau de Ferrand, Saint Emilion
Château de Ferrand was founded in the 17th century by Elie
de Bétoulaud and remained in the possession of descendants of this family for
over two centuries. The château dates from 1702 and was bought by the Bich
family (owners of the Bic brand) in 1978. Since they purchased the estate, they
worked hard on renovating the vineyards, cellar and winemaking facilities.
In 2012, the winery was classified as "Grand Cru
Classé” for the unanimously acclaimed quality of its wines. This ranking also
rewards châteaux that have been able to develop their architectural heritage.
This is certainly the case of Ferrand, where the vines are set around a
stunning 17th-century château.
We tasted the 2006 A Wine of Good Quality (83% Merlot, 10% Cabnert Franc, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon), 2014 The Irresitible Ascension (82% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon) and 2019 The Elegant (73% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Franc) Château de Ferrand Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
Lunch in Saint-Emilion
Chateau Clinet, Pomerol
Successive generations of owners have been producing world-renowned wines here for centuries and, since 1998, it has been the duty and privilege of the Laborde family to perpetuate the highest possible standards, observing the traditions of a strict cultural approach. Clinet 'family' has been engaged in substantial transformations: replanting, developing environmentally-friendly practices, rebuilding the winemaking facilities and reorganizing Clinet's distribution.
Chateau Clinet Pomerol Wines Tasted:
Ronan Bordeaux 2016; Ronan Bordeaux Rose 2021; Ronan Bodreaux Blanc 2021; 2016 Chateau Clinet; and 2020 Pomerol by Clinet.
